Master Class
The Master Class, arranged by New Bulgarian University, provides young musicians from Bulgaria and abroad with an opportunity to work with a world-famous jazzman, and master his working techniques. Working with his students on music skills and performance subtleties, Maestro Leviev helps them develop something much bigger: an understanding of jazz as world-perception.
Master Classes since 1999 have been organized under the following titles: “What is this thing we call jazz?” (1999), “Formal, aesthetic and social aspects of jazz as an art” (2001), “Musical interpretation and improvisation” (2002 and 2003), “Jazz improvisations” (2004, 2005).
Instrumental performers from Bulgaria and abroad with knowledge of music theory, harmony and English, without age restrictions, are eligible to participate in the Master Class.
After the audition Maestro Milcho Leviev selects 10 participants. Upon completion of the Master Class participants receive certificates from New Bulgarian University and perform together with Bulgaria’s most outstanding jazz musician, Milcho Leviev, in “Bulgaria” chamber music hall.
